What's she up to?...

Just a little update. All is still well, the baby is starting to do some uncomfortable rearranging, but I will have to rely on Caitlin to give you the full story, all I can say for sure is that it seems very uncomfortable! She also has good news to report health-wise... Improved blood pressure, good weight gain... All seems good, except for the uncomfortableness of whatever that girl has been up to in there for the last couple of days.

We had our baby shower on Sunday and that was fun! We closed Mabel's early and held it there. Lots of folks and good food! And, how can I forget, the presents! There were lots! I was expecting more "practical" things, but we mainly got alot of cute clothes! No, don't get me wrong, I imagine that clothes will be very practical, but I was expecting more of the "thermometer" kind of thing. Then again, I'd never been to a baby shower before, so what do I know. Anyway, Caitlin will, I think, put up some pictures of the booty (the baby shower booty), but it's been great fun to look through it... To read the books and to put away the little clothes into her little dresser. Speaking of that, we pulled the table out of the dining area and changed that area into baby land! Caitlin furnished it with the cradle and Pa's rocking chair and the babies dresser and the toy chest and the choo-choo train clock and she put the fun art from Kurty and Yancey and Robin up on the wall! It's very pleasant I say. And, as part of the aftermath, the living room and bedroom ended up improved also, so all is well.

On the other hand. It's only about six weeks (can you believe it) until the big day is due and we still haven't got around to calling a doula! But at least in another week our childbirth classes (whatever that might encompass) start, and hopefully about then we'll be able to check out the hospital facilities! I think the classes will be fun. To, you know, interact with other expectant folks should be a good thing.

Counting the weeks, and matching the outfits...

Improvements keep on coming. Around Christmas, in a fit of frustration, I threw our Ikea bed into the dumpster, sadly though, if one is 6 months pregnant, one doesn't want to have to clamber up from the floor to get out of bed! Thankfully, Ryan and Susie gave up a nice basic little frame to put the mattress on, so now we have an adult bedroom again: a bed off of the floor and a cradle.

The baby, by the way, is doing all sorts of crazy movements. I cannot even guess what's she's up to in there. I imagine that one day everyone will have a little sonogram thingy in their home so we'd be able to peek whenever we want to, now though, just feeling and wondering. It is very eerie how close below the skin she seems to be! And she seems to be running out of room. I can't imagine she'll be comfortable in there for 8 more weeks!

On another exciting note, though we continue to accumulate clothing (thanks, Susie!), it's only a week or so until our official shower! I can't wait to see what the little girl gets! It's all just so cute! And so far we have succeeded in avoiding plastic things and logo/comic character/branded items (how bohemian...). I'm sure that we'll get a few cute ones (do they make Tintin baby clothes?) and it's really just exciting to see everything... Only 8 weeks until they get a baby to go inside them!
