Not quite yet...

This morning we decided to get up with mommy when she went to work, so this finds Elinor and I at home with lots of time to fill with fun. Kurty said that "it should be a no-brainer to at least post about the baby once in a while" and he's right. And Elinor likes the idea so here goes.

It has been raining for nigh on a week straight now so I think that Midge and I will forgo our usual morning walk to Tandem. She did get all LL'Beaned last week and we made the trek on a drizzly day, but now it just seems too cold and wet out there, so I guess we will just stay home where it's warm and wait for Mom's return. Being home gives us more time to practice her new thing... Elinor's has been focused lately on if she is about to start crawling or not! She has mastered the basics, getting up on her hands and knees, rocking back and forth, sliding backwards and even trying to push herself forward! She can move all over the place by rolling and sliding backwards, but can't quite go forwards, which she finds very troubling. She seems to be missing the "moving her arms" part. But it is a fun process to watch and we think that soon she'll be able to move forward which might be more work for us, but I think that she will really enjoy the mobility.

She's also continued to eat, lots of Earth's Best baby food (she has taken a dislike to the Rice and Lentil Dinner, but the Bananas, Peaches & Raspberries remain her favorite) and she's been spending quite a bit of time at her mother's Activspace, which is now set up as a wonderful little sewing studio (in fact, I just laid her back to bed under the blanket that her mother just made for her!). In terms of other things, this morning my eldest sister sent me some links to some family photos of her and her husband and my niece and nephew (I mean, Elinor's cousins) in NYC and D.C.. We watched those as Elinor has yet to meet them, so she wanted to see who they were. Speaking of watching, Caitlin just now sent a link to a youtube movie from her college, 13 years ago! She's only in it for a moment but I thought it was great to see it and it's funny to see her at 18! When as many years pass again, Midge will be 5 years away from Caitlin in the movie. I know, it sounds obvious, but as a papa, it seems surreal and exciting to me.

Anyway, Elinor wanted to send some 6:30 a.m. smiles to everyone...

You're little doll is beautiful!
And I love the Fisher-Price phone! I still have mine from when I was a kid (I don't use it very often anymore, though.)
